Electric vehicle charging cable type standard

Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular around the world, and EV charging is evolving in different regions and use cases. This creates a high degree of complexity - and a large number of part numbers - for original equipment manufacturers worldwide. But for electric vehicle powered equipment (EVSE), including EV chargers, three generally accepted descriptors exist: mode, category, and type.

Consider the type of EV: four charging modes are included.

Charging mode 1: single-headed charging gun + data cable + ordinary CEE plug connected to single-phase mains combination;
Charging mode 2: single-head charging gun + data cable + control box + plug connected to single-phase mains combination;
Charging mode 3: single-headed charging gun + data line + control box + plug connected to single-phase utility combination;
Charging mode 4: combination of charging gun + charging line + direct current (DC) charging post;
