High-power DC fast charging is an effective way to increase the charging power of electric vehicles and relieve charging anxiety, and high-power DC fast charging promotes the development of charging systems in the direction of high voltage and liquid cooling.
The traditional heat dissipation method of charging piles mostly uses direct ventilation, which has low protection level and poor reliability. Liquid cooling has better performance than air cooling, but currently costs more. It will gradually become the mainstream trend in module cooling in the future. The heat dissipation capacity of liquid cooling modules is 10~20°C lower than that of forced air cooling modules, and intelligent noise reduction control can meet the requirements of installation and use in noise-sensitive scenarios. The liquid-cooling module also has a higher IP level of protection and is suitable for use in harsh scenarios such as heavy dust. Its lifespan is extended by 1 to 2 times, and subsequent maintenance and repairs are reduced, reducing operating costs. The main difficulty in liquid cooling is the sealing of the coolant and cables.
Liquid cooling requires setting up a special circulation channel between the cable and the charging gun, adding coolant into the channel, and using a power pump to promote liquid circulation to take out the heat and dissipate heat. However, the environment where charging piles are installed and used may face factors such as extreme weather and harsh environments. If the pipeline leaks due to poor sealing of the cables, it will easily lead to cooling system failure and lead to accidents. Therefore, the liquid-cooled cables used need to pass tests such as high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, explosion resistance, climate resistance, and low temperature resistance.
